Diglipur, Feb 4: Villagers of Ward No 4, Sitanagar Village of Diglipur staged protest and later stopped road construction work today. The road, which was being constructed from Kartick Biswas house to Swarnalata Talukdar house, was last time constructed about 10 years back.
Today reconstruction works for the same road was carried out but the villagers alleged that due to poor quality of road construction work, one can dig the road with bare hands.
After protest the work was stopped by the contractor one week ago, but today when again the work started, villagers were shocked to see that instead of assurances from Government Authorities the contractor are proceeding ahead with the same work without rectifying the earlier work.
Fuming over such insensitive attitude, the villagers today stopped the work by standing in front of the road roller. When the concerned JE was asked to come to the spot, the JE after inspection asked the contractor to first rectify the old work before proceeding further.
