Diglipur, Feb 02: The dilapidated footpaths of Diglipur area were inspected by the Administrative authorities this afternoon. Assistant Commissioner Diglipur alongwith NHIDCL authorities, Pradhan Subhashgram, Diglipur merchant association President and other revenue authorities inspected the tiled footpaths today.
This footpath was constructed during 2006-07 without proper planning over drain and entire footpath stretch was covered without leaving space for any manholes. Due to complete coverage of drains, the drains often get completely chocked also the water pipelines often get damaged in due course of time and start leaking. This also resulted in accumulation of all kinds of garbage under the footpath.
After many protests the APWD constructed manholes on this footpath near Tamizhar Sangam and vegetable market to clear the dump. Sources said that the NH authorities said that as the road area beyond Kalara junction is yet to be tendered towards Aerial Bay so they cannot take any action in this, while they will try to divert road repair funds for maintenance of these footpaths.
