Port Blair, July 03: The Bharatiya Janata Party, ANI had placed before the Prime Minister of India, Lt Governor, The Chief Secretary and Smti Sushma Swaraj, Member of Parliament (LS) and the Leader of opposition to declare the Viper Islands as National Memorial Island. In a letter Mr. Mohan had mentioned that for maintaining the sanctity of the Island the Yacht Marina Project should not come up.
Accordingly, Smti Sushma Swaraj, Member of Parliament and the Leader of Opposition has requested to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh vide her letter No:1/LOP/VIP/2012/1948 dt June 20,2012 to interfere in the matter and cancel the project of development of 50 berth Yacht Marina in AN Islands and to declare the Viper island as Heritage Island. Vide her letter 1/LOP/VIP/2012/1746 dt 2 june, 2012 Smti Swaraj has also requested to the Prime Minister for payment of Compensation to the 2004 Tsunami affected farmers/land owners.
