Port Blair, Jan 19: The Scouts & Guides Wing of Wimberlygunj Zone organized a Rally cum Community Service programme at GSSS Bambooflat on 17th January, 2018 on the theme “Swach Bharat Abhiyan”. Smti Manonmani, Vice Principal, GSSS Bambooflat who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, flagged off the rally from GSSS Bambooflat at 9.30 a.m. The Scouters & Guiders of 10 different schools of this zone shouted slogans while carrying placards displaying various quotations related to the theme. The Rally which went through the road from GSSS Bambooflat towards Stewart Gunj junction, also conducted a cleanliness drive of the road side area. Around 110 Scouts/Guides including Scout Masters/Guide Captains participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion as the Guest of Honour, Mr. V.Ranjith Kumar, Asst. Director (Sports) urged the participants to keep our environment clean and also to adopt cleanliness in their day to day life. Mr. Someshwar Rao, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Bambooflat, Mr. Hemant Rao, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Shorepoint and Mr. Rajkumar, Chairperson, SMC of GSSS Bambooflat also participated in the said programe as Special Guests. Mr. Lucas Robert, District Chief Commissioner (BS&G)/DEO Wimberlygunj conveyed his best wishes on the successful conduct of this programme. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Samir Kumar Das, District Organizer (Scout).
