Port Blair, Jan 17: The Port Blair Municipal Council will hold a Written Examination on Jan. 21, 2018 (Sunday) from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs, utilizing the Educational Institutions all over the Islands in Sixty (60) different examination Centres. Around 20,670 candidates are likely to appear in the said examination. The written examination will be conducted all over the Islands, which include Bambooflat, Wimberlygunj, Mannarghat, Ferrargunj. Tushnabad, Little Andaman, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat, Car Nicobar, Campbell Bay, Nancowrie and Port Blair HQ station.
The candidates will be admitted to take the examination at the centre specified in the Admission Certificate only and no other centre. The candidates must bring in original, a photo-bearing identity card such as Islander Card, Pan Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Aadhaar Card etc. issued by the competent authority. Candidate should reach the examination venue between 9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and be present in the Examination Hall at 9:30 a.m. on the day of examination. No candidate will be allowed to the Examination Hall after 9:30 a.m. The candidate should not bring any other paper except the Admission Certificate to the Examination Hall. Candidate found using or attempting to use any unfair means shall be liable to such punishment as the Council may decide to impose.
The use of calculators, logarithm tables, electronic devices, cell phones, wireless communication devices are strictly prohibited. Mobile phones and wireless communication devices are completely banned in the Examination Halls / Rooms. Candidates are not allowed to keep mobile phones / any other wireless communication devices with them even in switched off mode. Failing to comply with this provision will be considered as using unfair means in the examination and action will be taken against them including cancellation of their candidature and future debarment from appearing in examinations. No candidate shall leave the Examination Hall till the completion of the stipulated time of the paper and until the answer sheets of all the candidates in the room/hall have been collected or accounted for.
Since the octroi has been abolished and subsumed in GST, the requirement of Tax Collector has considerably reduced. As per the functional requirement, additional Tax Collectors are not required. Accordingly, it has been decided that no fresh recruitment to be made against the 20 vacant posts of Tax Collectors and accordingly the vacancy notice was amended and the recruitment process is restricted to 33 vacant posts of Lower Grade Clerk (LGC) only.
The Council is making efforts to re-designate the vacant post of Tax Collectors as Lower Grade Clerk with the approval of Competent Authority. Accordingly, based on the scores obtained in the recruitment examination, a panel may be prepared and in case the proposed re-designation of 20 posts of Tax Collector is approved by Competent Authority, the same will be filled up from the panel.
The candidates for Naval Children School and Kendriya Vidhyalaya No. II are hereby informed that neither private vehicles nor any relatives shall be allowed to enter defense campus at Minni Bay. They shall be allowed to enter the defense premises only upon production of Admission Certificates / Hall Ticket pertaining to Naval Children School and Kendriya Vidhyalaya No. II. Adequate vehicular arrangements have been made to ferry the candidates from defense check post (Near Pushpak Market) to respective examination centres and back.
The Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates with visual disabilities of forty percent and above and candidates suffering from Cerebral Palsy can avail the assistance of a SCRIBE in the written examination subject to such candidates having informed the Centre Supervisor, at least two days in advance. The duty of the Scribe shall be to write/code/fill up the required information from the candidate in his/her (Candidate’s) OMR Answer Sheet, read out the Question Paper to the candidate and to write the answers of the questions strictly as dictated by the candidate. In no way, the Scribe shall write his/her own solutions of the questions including mathematical calculations, or allow the candidate to seek solutions of the questions from him/her. In no case, the candidate is allowed to discuss/consult the correctness of the answer of the question with the Scribe/Invigilator. All candidates seeking Visually Handicapped/Celebral Palsy category status shall be provided 20 minutes extra time per hour of exam (i.e. 40 minutes extra time for the two hour exam).
