Port Blair, Jan 17: Following the move of Central Cooperative Stores (CCS) to stop distribution of LPG Cylinders from Brookshabad depot, thousands of people could be seen running from pillar to post to get a LPG cylinder.
Situation is so bad that if any LPG truck is seen on the road, hundreds of people follow the truck to get LPG cylinders and thus they disturb LPG distribution in other areas too.
Call it failure of CCS to ensure proper supply of LPG cylinders or complete collapse of system, thousands of people are suffering and they are now creating problems for others too.
Today when a LPG distribution truck reached Haddo area nearly 2000 people reached near the truck and demanded LPG Cylinders. For several hours there were fights and struggles. Situation is same in other areas too.
When contacted the secretary CCS. Mr. Paramshivam today said that the CCS has stopped distribution of cylinders form Brookshabad depot because, it came to the notice of CCS that many people, including some autodrivers, were doing black marketing of LPG cylinders.
He assured that the distribution network will be made so perfect within one month that there will be no need for public to visit the Brookshabad depot in future.
