Port Blair, Jan 11: Indian Coast Guard Region (A&N) conducts annual Intra-Region Volleyball Championship from 09 – 11 Jan 18 at the Integrated Defence Sports Complex, Minnie Bay. The event saw widespread participation from the teams all over the region ranging from Diglipur to Campbell Bay. The final was an enthralling five set affair played between the team from the Regional Headquarters and the team from Coast Guard Air Enclave, Port Blair with the latter clinching the coveted trophy. Apposite prizes and trophy were awarded to the winners and runner up.
Coast Guard regularly conducts various sports events through out the year as part of its enhancing sports activities. These events not only strengthen the mind and body and encourage a healthy lifestyle, but also pay a major role in inculcating a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie amongst the troops stationed on the remote Islands.
