Port Blair, Dec 26: Mr. Gadadhar Mazumder, Up –Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad alongwith Mr. Mohan Halder, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Chouldari met with Lt. Governor at 03:30 pm today.
In this meeting, various present and future development issues were discussed and a memorandum was submitted.
As per a press release, Mr. Mazumder has raised issues regarding House boat & Floating Restaurant in which the Creek stretching from Chouldari to Minibay is nearly 3 Km in radius and is very Calm, low depth, natural beauty surrounded by Flatbay Islands, Viper Islands, Bird Island, Andaman Plantation Islands, Mithakhari, Port Mout, Namunaghar , Minibay, Sippighat etc.
He mentioned that implementation of House Boat Tourism can generate employment to youths, cultivator can get better rate of their Agricultural productions and also the markets of nearly 10 Panchayats can get benefit of this Project.
Further he informed about the Water Sports activity in Chouldari Creek, which the villagers and Panchayat are demanding since 2009. As a Company from Chennai, is now ready to invest in Chouldari Creek for starting water tourism activity at Chouldari Creek for which No objection Certificate approval is pending in PBMC since 02 months.
Mr. Mazumder demanded Organic Agro tourism in Flat Bay Islands said that Flat Bay- 1, Flat Bay-2, Flat Bay-3, & Flat Bay-4 are four Islands under Chouldari Panchayat jurisdiction, where Agriculture department is investing since last 05 years and constructed tree house, rest house, toilet, jetty, spices plantation, rain water harvesting pond, high value agricultural plantation, nature walk in mangroves. Those works can attract tourists, as many tourists like these spots which are different from rest of Andaman.
He also informed that a letter has already been sent to Agriculture Department to provide NOC, So that tourism activity can be started in Flat Bay Island, but Department has demanded more time for the approval. Hence Mr. Mazumder has requested Lt. Governor’s intervention to speed up the Project, so that it can be an achievement work under NDA govt.
Highlighting the issue of Inner Line Permit system he said that the demand from Islanders to implement inner line permit in A & N Island, since 20 years is pending.
He said that every day thousands of Mazdoors mostly from West Bengal are entering in the Islands and are staying here & increasing the population of the islands.
The Lt. Governor reportedly gave a patient hearing and assured necessary action.
