Port Blair, Dec 17: The Legal Cum Probationary Officer of District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman, Mrs. Suparna Biswas who was the Link Officer of the Calicut Village has been felicitated with a memento for putting tremendous efforts in achieving all the indicators and completing the entire process at the earliest for the Calicut Village to be declared as the 1st Child Friendly Village of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Calicut Village has been declared as a 1st Child Friendly Village in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands by the NCPCR on 15th December, 2017 and for this achievement the DCPU started the process three months back.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mrs. Suparna Biswas said that there were many challenges related to transport. “Children had to walk around 2 kms to reach the school but after efforts the problem is now sorted out and the Bus now reach upto the school,” said Mrs Suparna.
She added that earlier there was only an ANM in the Health Center of the village but now monthly there will be a visit of a Doctor at the Health Centre and in coming two months the Doctor is going to visit the Health Centre twice in a month. “There were many other challenges which with the support of villagers, administration, UTCPCR has been achieved,” Mrs Suparna said.
