Port Blair, Dec.12: United Sporting Club of Port Blair has lifted the 1st Tsunami Memorial Knockout Football Tournament Trophy. In the final match of the tournament played at the historic Netaji Stadium here today, the team beat Model Village Football Club, Wimberleygunj by 3-0 goals. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anindo Majumdar, chief guest of the function, and the Secretary (Sports), Ms. Tanvi Garg gave away prizes to the winners and the runners up of the tournament besides individual prizes to best players.
The first two goals of the match came in the first half, when Octavia hit the ball into the net for United Sporting Club at the 25 minutes of the match. Then in the 30 minutes, Nickelion of the same Club sent the ball into the net to make a 2-0 lead. The third goal came in the second half of the match, when Ajay scored the final goal for the winners.
Best goal of the tournament award was bagged by Ronit of Island Infotec team, while Naveen of United Sporting Club won the Highest Score award. Future Boys team got the Promising Team award and Island Infotec bagged the Best Energetic Team award.
