Diglipur, Dec 10: Banking system appears to become paralyzed in entire Diglipur region. There are four banks in Diglipur area, SBI, ANSCB, Syndicate & Axis bank and SBI comprises maximum customers of Diglipur.
The SBI and ANSCB banks are always packed with people during office hours but the ACs are mostly not functioning. There are two SBI ATMs and one Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) in the premises of SBI bank but since last one month only one CDM machine is functioning. After the recent ATM break attempts all the ATMs of SBI are kept closed.
The customers are not able to activate the new ATM cards while the bank is forcing the customers to transact below 40K amount through ATM machines and not from bank.
The ATMs of Axis bank and Syndicate banks are mostly kept closed due to lack of cash. Recently after the break attempts of SBI ATM case the ANSCB ATM is functioning mostly in office hours only, after that the ATM is closed citing staff shortage. The lone working SBI ATM is located at 9KM away from Diglipur bazaar at Aerial Bay but that too is kept closed sometimes.
Businessmen, Govt servants, and general public along with the tourists are badly harassed due to closure of all ATMs.
The payments of the Govt servants are now deposited in Govt banks, but due to non-functioning of ATMs the Govt. Servants could now be seen in Diglipur rejoin standing in long queues during office hours, which will definitely affect the government work. Many customers are unable to activate their new ATM cards.
Due to shortage of staff in banks the customers are facing the heat. The businessmen and general public who are used to transfer money through CDM are also deeply frustrated now.
Hope the Administration will take up this matter with the concerned bank so that people of Diglipur region could atleast enjoy a decent banking service.
