Port Blair, Dec 06: Depression over Bay of Bengal has resulted into disruption of Inter Island Sector ferry Services today. As per reports, the Vessels that were scheduled for Long Island, Diglipur, Neil etc were cancelled today due to the inclement weather conditions.
It is learnt that only Speed Vessel MV Bambooka left for Havelock this morning. However many questions, why only MV Bambooka sailed today and not other vessels?
Talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone, the Deputy Director, DSS, Mr R Veeraih said that the department provided service to Havelock Sector via vessel MV Bambooka today. M V Bambooka was sent in the morning to know the sea conditions.
“Because of MV Bambooka’s sailing to Havelock, we learnt that the sea state is not at all good following which all the vessels those were scheduled to Long Island, Diglipur, Neil etc. were cancelled,” Mr Veeraih said.
He also said that even yesterday one of the Inter Island Vessel scheduled to Car Nicobar via Hutbay was also cancelled and he added that the mainland sector vessel MV Nicobar which is scheduled to sail for Vizag tomorrow has also been postponed as the depression is heading towards the Andhra Coast itself. “Even though a review will be done tomorrow morning at 05:30am,” Mr Veeraih said.
