Port Blair, Dec 01: The Adhyaksha, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mrs Baby Fareeda has refuted all allegations levelled against her by a local daily ‘The Phoenix Post”.
Addressing a press conference inside her chamber this afternoon, Mrs Fareeda said that on 25th November, on call of a lady whose husband is the younger brother of a reporter of the said daily, Miss. Raziya Begum, she went to the PS Pahargaon.
After reaching, the Police Station the ZP Chairperson, came to know that the lady, who called her, caught her husband with another lady red handed. The complainant also told the ZP Chairperson that her husband is having extra marital relationship with.
“The Pradhan of Calicut, Mrs Aashna Majid was already in the Police Station and thus we did the counselling of the lady and her husband for more than three and a half hour at the Women Cell of the Police Station Pahargaon which was fruitful,” said Mrs Fareeda.
Mrs Fareeda further said that later, when the sister of the lady’s husband, a reporter of the said newspaper came, she started abusing her and also asked her and others to get out of the Police Station and said “PRIs my foot”.
“We are PRI members and we came on call, as we are public representatives we are supposed to help the needy but the said reporter abused us badly which was seen by all the police personnel of the Police Station Pahargaon and also by maximum number of villagers of their area present in the PS, following which I registered an NC FIR against the reporter, immediately,” Mrs Fareeda said.
The South Andaman Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha alleged that she also spoke to the Editor of the newspaper but her statement was taken in a wrong way.
“In today’s issue the ‘The Phoenix Post’ alleged that I have constructed my house in encroached land which is totally baseless as that land belongs to my father in law and it’s an excess land that was allotted in the year 1961,” Mrs Fareeda said.
She further said that as the sub-division was done in the year 2015, it became clear that the building is in excess land and after that she stopped the construction on that land.
When contacted for a comment, the reporter of the said newspaper, Miss. Raziya Begum today said she stands with her report published today against the Chairperson South Andaman Zilla Parishad. Miss. Raziya Begum also told Andaman Sheekha that as far as the incident of Police Station is concerned, she is having sufficient proof to prove that the South Andaman Zilla Parisahad Chairperson had threatened to kill her.
