Port Blair, Nov 28: A Dinghy that left from Sippighat and reached Neil Island yesterday night at around 12:00pm was seized by the Neil Police Unit as the Dinghy was illegally carrying, 35 numbers of 750 ml, IMFL bottles.
Andaman Sheekha had recently published a news item and raised questions over operation of cargo dinghies from Sippighat area, which are never checked by CISF, as it is required as per law.
Following this the Dinghy was also seized. It is learnt that three persons were also arrested by the Police Unit while they were unloading the IMFL bottles.
The raid was planned after the SHO, Neil Police Unit; Sub-Inspector Ilangovan received a tip off, following which he with his team waited for the dinghy to reach Neil Island and as soon as the accused were unloading the IMFL Bottles the team caught them red-handed.
The entire raid was conducted under the supervision of DySP MK Shukla and the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman.
