Port Blair, Nov 28: The 10 days Annual Training Camp (ATC) 2017 of Naval NCC is was conducted from 14 Nov to 23 November at ITF Ground, Port Blair. A Total of 285 Cadets from all over Andaman and Nicobar island participated The Camp was inaugurated by Camp Commandant and Commanding Officer of 1 (AN) Naval Unit NCC Lieutenant Commander Jagatheesh Pandian with welcome address. Various activities were conducted during the duration of the camp with a focus on training the cadets to develop leadership qualities, meet challenges in life, bring about awareness regarding health, hygiene, Disaster Management to handling Natural calamities, possible Hazards in day to day life, environmental awareness etc.
The cadets were put to vigorous training curriculum in the past 10 days. The cadets visited several defence establishments like, NSRY (PB), INS Utkrosh, FDN-I, Indian Naval Ships Bangaram and Saryu, Lectured by various Departments of the Administration like Traffic Police, Disaster management, Fire safety, Health and Hygiene, Lectures on recruitment process in services by representatives from Indian Navy, Army, Air force and Coast Guard. The cadets also conducted road rally covering 7 Kms on 17 Nov 17. The cadets marched with pride raising slogans against usage of Tobacco, Alcohol and other harmful mind altering substances in-order to bring awareness among the common public. In conjunction with the camp and NCC Day celebrations- 2017, A Blood Donation camp was organised at ITF Ground on 17 Nov 17, in coordination with GB Pant Hospital. All Officers, staffs, and cadets who were fit to donate blood volunteered. Total of 30 Units of Blood was donated. The cadets were also trained on Small arms firing, Drill, Seamanship, Fire fighting, health and hygiene and many other subjects as promulgated by Naval Training Team in DGNCC, New Delhi. Several competitions were held during the duration of camp like Sports, Quiz, Drill Competition, Essay writing, painting, Cultural competition to build the team spirit and sportsmanship.
The Camp culminated with camp fire on PM 22 Nov 17, The Chief guest for the evening was Capt Rajesh Kumar Yadav, The Commanding Officer, INS Jarawa. The Chief Guest lit the camp fire and witnessed the colourful cultural programs put-up by the cadets. He also gave trophies and medals to the deserving Best cadets and most spirited platoon amongst the platoons who performed extremely well in the camp. The Best cadet award was awarded to PO Cadet Vikram Rai of Senior Division and PO Cadet K Ajeetha of Senior Wing both from JNRM college. The best cadet in Junior Division was Cdt Saw Caven Karry from GMSSS Mayabunder School. The prestigious award for most spirited platoon (Best Platoon) of the year 2017 was awarded to GSSS, Lapathy. The Chief Guest addressed and congratulated the award winners\and motivated all the cadets to achieve success in their future and to bring laurels to the nation. The Chief Guest had expressed the support to the unit and to the cadets in all possible ways.
The Camp Commandant and Commanding Officer of 1 (AN) Naval Unit NCC, Lieutenant Commander Jagatheesh Pandian, expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the cadets and his crew to all Officers and Men under Andaman and Nicobar Tri services Command, The Secretary Education, and all Departments of Andaman& Nicobar Administration, The principals of all schools and colleges of the cadets participated who has taken sincere efforts to create exuberant experience for the cadets who participated in the ATC-17. The cadets left to their respective schools and colleges with tons of life time memories, knowledge, enthusiasm and confidence to achieve higher positions in life.
