Port Blair, Nov 19: The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman on the eve of Children’s Day created an awareness campaign among the students and Teachers of GSSS Junglighat about the rights of Children as well as the POCSO and JJ Acts.
Mrs Rubina Siddique, Member, UTCPCR was the special invitee for the event. Addressing the students on the occasion, Mrs Rubina stressed that though the children have given many rights and its important to be aware of them and it is equally important to know that the children have responsibility towards their parent, teachers and also society.
Further addressing the students Mrs Suparna Biswas (Legal Cum Probation Officer of DCPU) explained the students about the POCSO and JJ Act and encouraged the students to come forward with any complaints they would have and informed the students to make use of the POCSO Box which is installed in their school.
The DCPO, Mrs Dharmila spoke about the role of the DCPU. The program was followed by a quiz competition which was enthusiastically participated by the students. The Vice Principal of the school Mrs Shilpi Rao welcomed the gathering.
