Port Blair, Nov 15: A Private Bus of SS Transport met with an accident today at Kadamtala, Adajig Number 3 this morning at 04:45 am leaving 28 passengers injured. It is learnt that two passengers were grievously injured in the accident and were immediately referred to the GB Pant Hospital from PHC Kadamtala.
According to reports, the driver while negotiating with the potholes lost control over the bus and then the bus rolled down nearly four meters into a roadside slope. According to report there are also reports of negligence driving, as per sources.
There were 28 passengers of Diglipur, 4 passengers of Mayabunder, 1 passenger from Rangat including the bus conductor and the driver.
Due to the bad condition of the ATR such accidents are now happening frequently, everyday some or the other reports of accidents are coming from the ATR but the administration still has not taken any concrete step to pressurize NHIDCL to speed up the road construction and repair works of the ATR. Hope before any major mishap happen, the administration will wake up from this deep slumber.
