Port Blair, Nov 08: The President Bharthiya Janta Mahila Morcha, Mrs Anusia Devi has demanded the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to provide Mini Bus facilities to the Patients from Old Ayush Bus Stand to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mrs Anusia Devi said that she has received a number of complaints mostly from the women coming from Poor Background.
“Most of the pregnant ladies and old aged persons find it very difficult to reach the GB Pant Hospital as they are supposed to walk for more than 300 meters to reach the GB Pant hospital from Old Ayush Bus Stand,” Mrs Anusia said.
Mrs Anusia added that walking for around 300 meters is without doubt a big challenge for a patient, if the Health Department or State Transport Service provides Mini Bus facility for this stretch of road, it will come as a big relief for most of the patients coming from Poor Background.
To put the issue in context let me share the fact that Public transport buses are not allowed beyond Ayush Bus Stand. Needless to mention majority of the passengers alighting at Ayush Stop are patients suffering from one or the other ailment, including elderly and making them walk about half a Kilometer to GB Panth Hospital under the sun is certainly not desirable/painful for the patients, specifically the elderly.
Authorities therefore could explore operating Battery Operated Rickshaw, may be on “Ride Share Basis” so that those taking the public transport to visit GB Pant Hospital is not inconvenienced.
MP fund has been wasted in just purchasing many number of buses, one can find it standing in good condition at every gram panchayat office with out being utilized.
Tourism Department water sport Machines like speed boat, jet ski, were also purchased and are on display near entry gate of water sport complex parking lot.
These are demand and supply basis which are done in this Islands, these two are not the only example.
So a person/leader/officer demanding any thing for group or for any other purposes is justified with reasons and the supplier supplies it for the justified reason but the working/functioning/long term utilization/maintenance is not seen/calculated before hand.
