Port Blair, , Nov 06: In a recent development it has been learnt by Andaman Sheekha that on Saturday the PRI members of 6-7 Panchayats those come under the jurisdiction of Ograbraj Police Station and the PRIs, who are sympathizes of the accused of the recent Gambling Raid at Manpur, held a meeting with the District Superintendent of Police, Ms Urvija Goel at Tushnabad Panchayat Hall and demanded that they want a Male Station House Officer in the Ograbraj Police Unit and not a Female SHO in the area.
At this point of time when Government of India under Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is stressing of empowering of women such demands of PRI members sounds too hilarious.
Earlier a delegation also met the Chief Secretary Andaman Nicobar Administration and the delegation reportedly targeted the SHO of PS Ograbraj, Inspector Shabana Haneef give baseless excuses like, she belongs to a different religion and the raid was conducted at Manpur Community Hall where a puja was conducted and tried to give the entire raid a religious color and now when it didn’t worked they are demanding a male SHO in the PS with no valid reasons.
But for some reasons, the Complainant of Manpur Raid and also the victim the SDPO of Bambooflat, MA Nausad who was reportedly made hostage and was locked up inside the room of the Community Hall, Manpur by the arrested accused and because of whose complaint a case was registered against all the accused of the Manpur Raid, had received tremendous support from the PRI Members of the area. The PRI members reportedly said that they don’t have any issues with the SDPO Bambooflat but the issue is only with the SHO of PS Ograbraj, Inspector Shabana Haneef.
It is worth mentioning here that the Ograbraj Police Station has recently arrested dozens and dozens of accused in Gambling and Drug Peddling cases, which has certainly left many power and political bosses very upset.
General Public now wants to know that why the political leaders of the area are so against the SHO of the region Inspector Shabana Haneef, who has left no stones unturned to keep the area a crime free zone and the PRI Members of the area has no issue with the SDPO Mr MA Nausad who is actually the complainant and with whose statement a case was registered in the Ograbraj Police Unit in the Manpur raid issue.
Meanwhile, the entire episode of Manpur has left police officers of lower ranks deeply demoralized as action on hard working police officers is clearly sending a message to other police officers of local rank must keep eyes closed against Gambling and Drug Peddling.
This entire story has many deep rooted connections because of which such pressures are being created and all police Jawans and lower ranked officers had expected that the present Director General of Police will reach to the bottom of this matter and take a firm stand but silence of DGP in this case also has left entire police force demoralized.
Many are questioning the intensions of some PRI members who hare behind one SHO. People are raising questions whether action should be taken against those who are misleading police by making gambling a religious issue.
