Port Blair, Nov 02: Social Activist, Mr Akshay Pant has urged the Secretary, Education, Andaman & Nicobar Islands to conduct a fresh selection to the post of Part Time Pre-Primary Teacher at GSS Tamaloo and GMS Kinmai for the session 2017-2018.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary Education, Mr Pant mentioned that one Mrs Y. Sarah and Mrs Y. Jemimah were given appointments as Part Time Pre-Primary Teacher vide Directorate of Education’s Order No. 61900 dated 11.11.2013 and even Office Order No. 2448 dated 17.06.2015.
He further mentioned that at the time of the their appointment the Rules and Provisions notified by the department for the selection of PPT/PPA was not adhered to in conformity during the initial selection of PPT in the above mentioned school in the year 2012.
“The Rules and Provisions published by the Education Department dated 13.08.2012 for selection of PPT/PPA specify that School Management Committee should give wide publicity for selection of PPT/PPA in their respective Locality/ Village and should invite application from locally available eligible candidates and eligible Divyang persons/BPL/Tribal/ dependent of deceased Government Servants should be given due preference for the post of PPT/PPA,” Mr Pant said.
Mr Pant further said that in view of the provisions it is mandatory to give due care and ensure that the tribal candidate should not be deprived of from their legitimate right.
Mr Pant added that it is a fact and matter of record that the above mentioned appointments were made in deviation to existing Rules and Provisions but mentioned that during the time due publicity was not given by the authority concerned for the engagement of aforesaid named person.
He further added that it is also a fact that a number of tribal educated persons are running from pillar to post for a job and by not providing job to the Tribal Person by the authority concerned is totally violation of the Hon’ble Apex Court and is bad in the eyes of law.
In his letter Mr Pant also mentioned that few tribal educated person had also met him personally and informed that to favour the aforesaid person the entire exercise of not giving wide publicity was done.
In view of the aforesaid facts Mr Pant lastly requested the Secretary Education to pass necessary direction/order to the authorities concerned to conduct a fair and fresh selection for the post of PPT at GSS Tamaloo and GMS Kinmai for the session 2017-2018.
