Port Blair, Oct 27: During UPA-I Govt, the Ministry of Power in compliance to the order of the labour court, the services of daily rated mazdoors of Electricity Department was regularised from 1st October,2009 without the benefit of past services and other consequential benefits since 1993-94. This was aggrieved and the mazdoors have preferred appeal to the Hon’ble CAT & High Court which has been uphold by the Supreme Court of India. Despite of that the matter was delayed in the Ministry citing one and other reason
Meanwhile, the Mazdoors of Electricity Department interacted with Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the MP, A& N Islands for proper redressal of their grievances. In response to that Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the M.P. of A & N Islands has taken enormous efforts with the Minister of Power during UPA –II govt., but all went in vain.
However, after formation BJP lead Government of 16th Lok Sabha, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the M.P, A & N Islands has once again taken up the issue with the Ministry of Power for considering the cases of Mazdoors of Electricity Department.
In response to that the Minister, Ministry of Power, Govt, of India vide their communication No.34/2/2005-R & R(Vol-III) dated13.10.2017 has conveyed the decision for implementing the order of the Hon’ble High Court dated 09.04.2013 for regularisation of past service with all consequential benefits of 495 Mazdoors in the Electricity Department.
This is an exceptional & outstanding effort of the BJP lead Govt. Hence Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the M.P. expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Raj Kumar Singh, the Minister of Power, Govt, of India for considering the demands of the 495 Mazdoors of Electricity Department.
