Port Blair, Oct 26: The Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister is reaching out to the common man for addressing their need of financial inclusion and extending all the support & assistance to the needy people though diverse schemes implemented throughout the country. Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency (MUDRA) is an organization constituted by the centre to help individual & small trader through financial institution. A film on MUDRA Yojana was screened on the occasion, highlighting the various social security schemes of the Government. A video highlighting the success stories of One MUDRA and Stand Up India was screened. Sanctioned letters were also handed over to the beneficiaries.
As a part of MUDRA promotion campaign, a camp was organised in Car Nicobar today on 26th October 2017. The Chief Guest of the programme was Shri Martin Luther Secretary, Tribal Council, Car Nicobar. The programme was attended among others, by Shri Awanish Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars, as Guest of honour, Shri B V S Prasad, General Manager, NABARD, Shri K M Deka, Deputy General Manager, SIDBI among others. The programme aimed for creating awareness on MUDRA Loan, various financial inclusion schemes and digital payment methods, was organized by Union Territory Level Bankers Committee, Port Blair.
The Chief Guest of the programme Shri Martin Luther said that MUDRA Yojana can make one’s dream come true if he understands the schemes and has strong determination to pursue his dreams. He also requested Lead District Manager to conduct more Financial Literacy awareness programmes to create awareness of Government schemes in the villages in coordination with village Headmans.
The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobars Shri Awanish Kumar, IAS thanked Union Territory Level Bankers Committee and Andaman Nicobar State Cooperative Bank for Organizing MUDRA promotion Camp at Car Nicobar.
He also reiterated the commitment of Administration towards implementation of all schemes for the benefit of the people. He also explained about the benefits of formal banking and informed that the main theme of the government for launching of MUDRA yojana is “Funding of Unfunded”.
In the Welcome address, the Assistant General Manager, ANSCB Shri Raghuveer Singh explained about the Government schemes viz Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and Stand Up India. He also informed that MUDRA Yojana has successful stories in the Island and the bankers have done a splendid job in its implementation in the Island.
Various cultural programmes and a friendly football match were organized by the administration to popularize & Organize the programme in a befitting manner. As many as 10 stalls of banks and various departments were also set up to show case their schemes and programmes for the benefit of the general public and the counters included Tribal Council, SBI, SIDBI, NABARD, Aadhaar Enrollment Centre from Civil Supply, ANSCB, Veterinary Department, Industries Department, Agriculture Department & BSNL. The successful function was concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Shri K Mohan Rao, Lead District Manager, SBI, Port Blair.
