Port Blair, Oct 25: A programme “Deepawali Utsav” was organized at Wimberlygunj Panchayat Hall on 24th October 2017. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the guest. Mr. Abhay kumar in his welcome speech greeted the guest on dais & all the guest who made it to be present in the programme. Pandit Shri Vinod Dwivedi of DBHDP spoke on the importance of celebration of Deepawali. Shri.Kutty Ustad of M I Masjid deliberated on following his religion & respecting other religion too.
Dr. Tammana Sengupta, Moi/c, PHC, Wimberlygunj greeted the gathering on the celebration of Deepawali Utsav. Mr.Anas, Secretary, Akbariya Masjid spoke on treating all with same respect in spite of different religious philosophy. Father Atoeby viewed that we should keep the good things to prevail on bad. Shri. A. Justin, Deputy Director (Retd), Anthropology Dept. spoke on length about the communal harmony and better relationship among human beings. Mr. J. L Tak, a social worker & Mr. Rajesh Lal, social worker also spoke on communal harmony, peace & prosperity. A splendid song was also performed by Ms.Shyne, The programme in which around 600 people participated concluded with dinner feast. This was the second year of celebration of this unique “Deepawali Utsav” at Wimberlygunj.
