Port Blair, October 24: A delay of more than 20 days of reaching the Ration Articles to Consumer Co-operative Stores of Baratang Branch every month has left the Residents of Baratang deeply upset.
It is very common in the Islands that the residents buy their Ration articles in the beginning of every month and most of the people of far flung islands are mostly used to buy their Ration articles from CCS, as per their old habits.
But since a few months the CCS is sending the Ration Articles to Baratang, after nearly 20 days of every month, villagers alleged.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, residents of Baratang region said that when all the private shops transports their Ration articles in the first week of every month then why can’t the CCS do it?
Delay in Ration Articles is not the only problem, insufficient supply of LPG Cylinders by the CCS every month is another major problem of the residents of Baratang region, says Mr. Alagar Swamy the Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang region.
According to reports, the demand of the region is around two LPG Trucks every month but the CCS is sending only one Truck load of LPG cylinders since last three months, in the region following which the residents have to run through pillar to post to get a cylinder.
The residents of the region are now demanding the bosses of the CCS to understand their genuine problems and do the needful as per the demand of the region.
Andaman Sheekha tried to contact the Secretary, CCS in this regard but he was not reachable via phone.
Andaman Sheekha also learnt that the Zilla Parishad Member of the region has also spoke to senior officers of CCS about the problem but to the utter dismay he didn’t get any favourable reply from CCS.
