Port Blair, October 24: The Founder Member of Non Government Organisation ‘Dayitvabodh’, Mrs Sampa Banerjee has demanded to recruit additional full time teachers in all schools, who can teach subjects like Yoga, Music and Craft etc. to the students of these Islands, as it happened in the earlier days.
Recently, talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mrs Sampa Banerjee said that nowadays the Education Department is mainly focusing on regular studies, which is increasing stress level among students in direct or indirect ways.
She said that this is only the reason why some students are getting diverted towards wrong path and there are also increasing reports in local media about suicides committed by teens.
She added that earlier many schools had subjects like fine arts, music upto Senior Secondary level, which is not seen in most of the school in present days.
“Many posts of Craft instructors are lying vacant and many well trained local youths are also waiting for a job,” she added.
As per reports Mrs Sampa Banerjee has also met the Chief Secretary of Andaman Administration with this issue and she has reportedly got a very positive assurance and response from the CS in this regard.
