Car Nicobar, October 18: A huge unrest has been reported from Car Nicobar Island since yesterday evening.
According to details, a large number of people from Nicobari Tribal Community, reportedly Gheraoed the SP Office, Car Nicobar yesterday evening and also pelted stones in the SP Car Nicobar Office. The mob also allegedly damaged a police SUV and manhandled a few police and home guard Jawan.
According to sources, a Nicobari Tribal youth namely Sameal, 21 years, Ex-Student of Malacca School, was beaten up by a Police Personnel following some complaint from a girl.
Sources also said that the girl was coming along with the Nicobari Youth but when a Police Vehicle was crossing them the girl launched a complaint to the police about eve-teasing against the boy.
The Nicobari Community People expressed their resentment only because the boy was allegedly beaten up without conducting a proper inquiry.
However, as per sources, the DC Car Nicobar is now conducting a Suo Moto inquiry as per the orders of the Chief Secretary, Andaman Nicobar Administration and the DC is going to take the statement of both the sides and also from the girl and a final report will be submitted soon to CS.
The situation in Car Nicobar is said to be normal now after DC Nicobar intervene into this matter and spoke to representatives of Nicobari Tribal Community.
