Port Blair, Oct 18: Living up to the true spirit of festival of Lights, 47 NCC Cadets of 1(AN) Naval Unit NCC along with the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Commander JagatheeshPandian of Indian Navy and other staffs visited the Orphanage and old age home “Abbhyuday ”at Ferranrgunj on 17Oct 17 to celebrate their Diwali along with the inmates to share their happiness.
The NCC cadets presented cultural program to entertain the Children and the senior citizen of the home. In addition, the Cadets along with the inmates undertook the clean ship of the surrounding areas of the old age adding to support the Clean India movement Swatch BhatratAbhiyan.
The cadets and the staff spent quality time with abandoned elders, providing them with the much-needed feeling of togetherness and bonding of a family, and making this Diwali special and memorable to everyone. The cadets distributed sweets and gifts to the inmates. The children and senior citizen of Abbhyudayshowed their gratitude and happiness by offering the sweets to the NCC cadets and staff present at the event.
The Commanding Officer of the NCC unit mentioned that, The event was conducted under the guidance of the Commodore Vijesh K Garg, VSM, The Deputy Director General NCC (Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar) with the Support of Andaman Nicobar Administration to encourage, The social responsibilities amongst the youth of this country and to motivate the others citizens to come forward for the underprivileged people on the occasion.
At the end of a lovely day, the Cadets and staff left with hearts overflowing with love, delight and much needed sense of satisfaction along with the blessings of the senior citizens of the home.
