Port Blair, Oct 16: “World Standards Day” is celebrated on October 14 every year by the members of the IEC, ISO and ITU, which is a means of paying tribute to the collaborative efforts of the thousands of experts worldwide who develop the voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards.
The Institution of Engineers (India) also joins the international community to celebrate the day in a befitting manner at all of its Centres across India and also at Chapters outside the country. The theme for this year is “Standards make Cities Smarter”. At the macro-level amongst others the focus this year is on 1. Smart Buildings & Homes – Security Solutions and Energy Efficiency. 2. Smart Mobility – Efficient public transportation. 3. Smart Energy – Renewable Energy & 4. Smart Traffic – Reduce Traffic and detect accidents. Attached please find a brief write-up on the theme.
Alongwith all State & Local Centres of The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), the Andaman & Nicobar State Centre (ANSC) is also celebrating the Day. On the occasion the Centre is organising Technical Lectures on the Theme by Engineers / Officers from APWD, Directorate of Transport, Electricity Dept. and Police Department on Tuesday, 17 October, 2017 at 3.30 pm at ALHW Conference Hall.
All the Engineering Fraternity & interested persons of these islands are requested to attend the Technical Lectures.
