Port Blair, Oct 12: Teams of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today simultaneously raided five locations, including the office of Directorate of Health Service, in the case of alleged Multi-crore Medicine Purchase Scam.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the SP of Andaman CBI unit, Mr. Shantanu Kar today said that as per details the CBI had received information that many medicines were purchased by the Directorate of Health Services in Brand name rather than in Generic Names. Moreover, there were many cases where medicines were unnecessarily procured and all these nexus caused a loss of nearly Rs. 85 lakhs per year to the Health Department.
As per sources an FIR has been registered in this regard and scrutiny of all the documents seized today during the raids is presently going on.
Since Mr. Shantanu Kar has taken over as SP of CBI’s Andaman unit, many cases of corruption have been worked out. As per details no arrest has been made yet in this case.
