Port Blair, Oct 06: A delegation of Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry lead by the President Shri Girish Arora, consisting of Shri Mohammd Jadwet, Former President, Shri Surendra Prahladka, Vice President, Shri Krishna, General Secretary, and Shri S. Chowdhury, Treasurer met the Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley, on 29th September, 2017 and discussed various issues pertaining to the development of these Islands. They highlighted the impact of GST on both the goods & services sector in these Islands and the bottlenecks being faced by traders in filing GST returns due to the slow internet connectivity issue. After a patient hearing, the Hon’ble Minister assured the delegation that the issues will be looked into positively.
Later that day, the above delegation met the Shri Hasmukh Adhia, Revenue Secretary to the Government of India and discussed various GST related issues. He has agreed to look into the issues raised by the ACCI. Thereafter, the delegation met Shri PK Srivastava, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and discussed matters relating to RAP, GST and other issues concerning the development of these Islands. The meeting with the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister and other Secretaries were very fruitful and after a patient hearing, they understood the ground realities in implementing various schemes in these Islands.
