Mayabunder, Dec 28: Lack of planning of the Civil Supplies Department to supply proper Kerosene stock in the North and Middle Andaman has left the people high and dry.
Due to insufficient supply of Kerosene in the North & Middle Andaman the people of this part of the island, are suffering a lot of hardship. Most of the residents in the area are completely dependent on the supply of Kerosene, especially the government servants who have being transferred in this part are using Stove for cooking as most don’t transfer their LPG connection their as they know that they will get transfer to some other place in next 2-3 years.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, a resident of NM Andaman said that the administration is so hopeless that it has even failed to supply the basic need. “As there is now unavailability of Kerosene in the region, we are now spending around Rs 200 a day to have food outside as we couldn’t cook at our home because there is no Kerosene in the market,” said a Government Servant in case of anonymity.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Deputy Director, Civil Supplies Department, Mr Sanjay Balan, he said that it isn’t like that the Department has not supplied Kerosene last month but due to some operational issues the Department was not able to supply sufficient quantity as per the demand.
“But this month we will be supplying more to the region,” said Mr Balan.
