Mayabunder, Sep 26: Rains are back and so are the worries of commuters travelling from Diglipur & Billiground area. Potholes with yawning gaps greet them soon as they step out of their houses and when they hit the main roads it is bumpy ride most of the way. Flying muddy water, water stagnation and potholes on the roads are making it tough for vehicles to run in such poor conditions of roads.
The college students of Mahatma Gandhi Government College residing at Diglipur and Billiground are suffering a lot these days.
The students told Andaman Sheekha that the college closes by 02:30 pm and due to non availability of buses for more than 02 hours they have to wait outside the college campus.
The issue is faced since10-15 days by the day scholars just by the failure of operation of STS buses, a student of the college said. Also the students who come from far flung areas reach home by 8 pm.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Minj, Asst. Engineer, Mayabunder and Diglipur unit to get the reason behind the fact, Mr. Minj stated that due to the pathertic condition of the ATR the STS department find difficult to ply the buses on the routes. “Everyday buses are becoming prey to the bad roads and the spare parts are not available at the offices for the maintenance,” he added.
On one hand the poor condition of roads are making the life of local commuters including the college students miserable and on the other hand the students are fuming against the failure of the Administration against providing the buses on proper time. If the matter is not addressed soon it could be another disruption in N&M Andaman.
