Port Blair, Sep 21 In a Special meeting of the Port Blair Municipal Council held today Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Councillor, Ward No. 07 of Port Blair Municipal Council, has been declared elected as Chairperson, for a period of one year for the third term commencing from 24/09/2017.
The special meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Mr. Udit Prakash Rai, Deputy Commissioner, (South Andaman).
14 out of 24 councillors voted for BJP candidate Indra Pal Singh while BJP candidate, C H Babu, who contested the Chairperson election as independent candidate got only 10 votes.
The lone Aam Aadmi Party Councillor of PBMC from Ward Number 23 had proposed the name of C H Babu as a candidate.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vishal Jolly, State President BJP, A&N Islands, have congratulated Mr. Indra Pal Singh the newly elected Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council.
He also expressed gratitude to councillors and party workers for their support.
Regarding rebel councillor of BJP, Mr. C H Babu, Mr. Jolly said that a meeting will soon be convinced in this regard and further course of action will be decided.
Meanwhile, State President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Mr. B.K. Vinod & All Workers of BJYM, Andaman Nicobar Islands, has congratulated, Mr. Indra Pal Singh, Councilor, Ward No. 7 for being elected as Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council.
