Port Blair, Sept 20: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A & N Islands met with the Minister of Road Transport & Highway and presented about the physical condition of National Highway-223.
He further expressed that conditions of the 64.40 KMs roads (NH-223 of A & N Islands) passing through the Jarawa reserved forest (from 59.00KM to 107.00 KM AND 138.20 km TO 155.00km) have became accident prone due to its dilapidated condition.
Pursuant to that, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, GOI, New Delhi has released a fund to the tune of Rs: 50.00Crores under Annual Plan during Financial Year of 2017-18 for rehabilitation & up-gradation of road (NH-223) passing through the Jarawa reserved forest of A & N Islands.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, GOI, New Delhi has also released an another fund of Rs:1033.26 Lakhs to this UT of A & N Islands under the Central Road Fund in the current financial year of 2017-18 for construction of rural road and bridges.
