Diglipur, Sep 17: International Coastal Cleanup Day-2017 was conducted by Coast Guard-09 HQ ,Diglipur at Kalipur beach today to create awareness amongst local population about the preservation and protection of Marine Environment as well as to further the objectives of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
About 350 personnel from various government agencies including Indian Coast Guard, Navy, Army, Defense Security Corps, schoolchildren from various local schools including NCC cadets, Forest Service, IG and Police participated in the event. The garbage was segregated and disposed of in an environmental friendly manner.
Commandant SC Patanaik, Commander, No 9. Coast Guard District HQ ( N& M Andaman) expressed deep gratitude and appreciated whole hearted participation by all volunteers for ensuring safe and smooth conduct of the event.
