Port Blair, Sept 06: The decision of the District Administration to notify the free space next to the exit gate of the Veer Savarkar International Airport has irked the Private Tourist Vehicle Operators as they have a lot of objections.
According to the Private Tourist Vehicle Operators, they pay around Rs 55 for Parking inside the Airport and finally then after a lot of marketing or waiting they get a Tourist.
“The Auto Rickshaw drivers park their vehicles just near the exit gate of the Airport and without paying anything they divert our guests,” said a Private Tourist Vehicle Operator.
The Private Tourist Vehicle Operators also alleged that the Traffic Police Personnel support the Auto Rickshaw Drivers as they do not fine them. “When earlier we used to park our vehicles near the exit gate of Airport, they used to impose challan on us but now the same area has been made auto stand,” said a vehicle driver.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha, the State General Secretary, Rashtriya Janta Auto Union, Mr Santosh Kumar said that the Private Tourist Vehicle Operators are just creating a scene.
Mr Santosh said that this is the first Auto Stand in the city which has been notified and it is the tourist who will decide whether he wants to select a luxury car or an Auto Rickshaw.
“It is clearly mentioned in the notification that it is for the welfare of the Public, so there is nothing wrong and the Private Tourist Vehicle Operators are just creating a scene,” Mr Santosh said.
Before VACANT SPACE, and TRESS easy for pick up and drop, then SWATCH BHARAT WASTE BIN came up, area stinks, Now AUTO STAND but Unlimited Autos, traffic conjunctions, JUST look over its becoming BUS STOP so more conjunctions, future STREET HAWKERS, then MOBILE PETTY SHOP, then UNMOVABLE PETTY SHOP. then PERMANENT ENCROACHED AREA,
so the area will be well developed with AUTO STAND+BUS STOP+STRUCTURED SHOP+WASTE BIN
