Port Blair, Aug 23: An awareness programme on PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme) for JNRM Students is being organised for the students by the Department of Homescience, JNRM in association with the SBI-RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute) from 23rd to 26th August 2017. At the inaugural ceremony on 23th August2017, the Chief Guest Dr N Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM described the Prime Minister’s plan for skill development .In a country like India the youth should acquire additional skills along with their formal education, he added. He also exhorted the students to go for advanced skill development training in their field of interest. He thanked the officers of SBI RSETI for their interest in imparting skills to JNRM students. The Guest of Honour, Shri Shiv Kant Manohar, Chief Manager, State Bank of India, Port Blair congratulated the students for showing keen interest in taking part of such national initiative. The students should identify their latent skills and harness them from economic point of view by making use of these kind of training programmes, he added. The Special Guest Shri K Mohan Rao, Director SBI RSETI and Lead Bank Manager, Port Blair gave an overview about the various type of training which is being imparted in the Port Blair RSETI. Shri.K.Venkatesan, HOD, Homescience and Coordinator of this programme explained the need of Skilling the Youth for achieving the vision and mission of our Prime Minister on “Make in India”, “StartUp India” and “Skill India” programmes. The convergence mode of skill development is the need of the hour through developing compendium of skillsfor youth in local language, he added. Shri P Kaliswaran, Shri Naveen Rajkumar and Shri. Sridhar, faculty members of SBI-RSETI handled the sessions on making business proposals, feasibility analysis, funding sources etc to the students. Smt. Shalini Vijayalakshmi, Guest Faculty in Homescience, JNRM proposed vote of thanks. The entire programme was moderated by Ms.Dipali Baroi, III B.Sc Homescience.
