Port Blair, Aug 23: Swacchhta fortnight programme was organized by Nehru yuva Kendra Campbell Bay from 1st August to 15th August, 2017 at Campbell Bay.
During the 15 days programme 15 youth clubs and 3 panchayat, 2 PHC, 5 schools were covered also started dore to door campaign by involving of volunteers and youth. NYK organized multifarious programme in coordination with Schools and Youth clubs, Panchayat took initiative to keep market places, Campbell bay bazaar and roadside cleaned by issuing dustbin and collecting and transporting garbage to dump yard regularly. NYK and Panchayat has also appealed to villagers not to throw domestic garbage at open places.
The Programme started with Motivation of the members of Youth Clubs and Youth to adopt Swachh Bharat Mission in their day to day life to avoid various viral diseases. In this programme NYK also promoted the Message/Appeal of Prime Minister of India and Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. By displaying banners to highlight the core issues of cleanliness, also held meetings of eminent citizens for effective implementation
of Swachh Activities.
On 1st August, 2017 pledge taking ceremony on Swachhta was held in different youth clubs and schools of Campbell Bay at GSS, C/Bay, GSSS Vijay Nagar, GSS Gandhi Nagar, Govt Primary School, Campbell Bay and Govt Middle School Govind Nagar. Lecture and Gosthi, seminars and Discussions was organized in different youth clubs and schools, the school Principals and others teacher administrated swachhta sankalp to all students.
On 2nd and 3rd day of fortnight undertook Cleaning of villages and schools, local surrounding and school premises in which students and local youths participated. During the programme Door to door campaigning was done on swatchhta – ODF, General cleanliness & hygiene by the Volunteers and active youths from 04th to 6th August’17.
On 7th to 13th August, 2017 an intensive cleaning programme of the village including public places like Anganwadi, Panchayat Bhavan, PHCs harbor, bus stops in the village took place by the School students of GSS Gandhi Nagar and Bharti Youth of Bharti youth clubs. Similarly on 14th August, 2017 a Rally with school students was organized in the village at Gandhi Nagar alongwith a motorcycle rally by the youth of Bharti Youth Club Gandhi Nagar. Shri Prahlad Singh , Up-Pradhan of Laxmi Nagar Panchayat flagged off the rally and covered area of Shastri Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Gandhi Nagar.
Beside this various competitions were also held on swachhta issues like essay, drawing debating and quiz competition in associating with RITES Institute, Campbell Bay under leadership of Shri Rahul Singh( BE) and all the competitions winners were awarded by utility prizes and certificates.
The whole programme was coordinated by National Youth Corps Miss Jyohti Ekka, Miss Kamila Lakra, Miss Vinita Kashap and Miss Seema.
