
Port Blair, Aug 23: An interactive session on “Religion on women’s Rights” was held by ISMAT at Auditorium of JNRM College on 22 August.
The session had talks on Hinduism, Christianity and Islam and what the respective religions speak on women’s rights.
The speakers included Dr. R Devdas, Pastor Aseem Tripathi and Mrs Sajida Zubair. Mr Pradeep Banerjee. Secretary (Law) was the Chief guest and Prof N.Francis Xavier was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest, Mr.Pradeep Banerjee informed about the rights of women and the laws provided for women that are enshrined in the Constitution of India and later summed up the session.
He emphasized that we should take the best of all religions and that the awareness of rights is a key to empowerment of women.
The session was moderated by Mrs Rubina Siddiqui, past president ISMAT. Mrs Shenaz Jadwet, President ISMAT welcomed the gathering while the vote of thanks was proposed by General secretary, ISMAT, Dr Shireen Jadwet.
