Mayabunder, Aug 20: ‘Quit India Movement’ was an important milestone in the pre independence era and to commemorate the outcome of this movement the Govt. of India has decided to observe 71th independence day as “Sankalp Parv” from 09th August to 30th August, 2017 and urged citizens to take a pledge to create a new India that is strong, prosperous and inclusive. In this regard, the KVK, N & M Andaman, ICAR-CIARI organised one day programme on “New India Manthan-Sankalp se Siddhi” on 19th August 2017 at Community Hall-10, Karmatang, Mayabunder.
The programme was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Saw Tatho, Adhyaksha, Zila Parishad, N & M Andaman, Smt. K. Nachiamma, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder, Pradhans, PRI-members, Senior scientist & Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and others. In the inaugural address, Saw Tatho highlighted the importance of New India Manthan initiative and appreciated the vision of the Prime Minister for moving towards developed India. Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder requested the rural youth to take up self employment through formation of SHG’s and Co-operative societies. Pradhan, Hari Nagar and Basantipur appreciated the efforts of KVK for organizing important events for the betterment of farming community. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. B. L. Kasinath emphasised the need for social transformation in our country through adopting new scientific innovation in crop production for increasing the productivity. Dr Shailesh Kumar briefed the gathering about “New India Manthan-Sankalp se Siddhi”. President, Karen Welfare Society, Saw Saita, expressed his gratitude towards KVK, N & M Andaman & CIARI for making their contribution recognized through National level Genome Saviour Award. Later on, Shri Prasant Pradhan & Shri Tanmay Paul screened the message of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi along with an inspirational film and all the participants took the pledge for “New India Manthan”.
A technical session was also arranged highlighting Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna , Improved Pig breeds & their nutritional importance, Scope of eco tourism in N & M Andaman, Fish feed and disease management, backyard poultry farming ,Scope of agricultural machineries in N & M Andaman. The expert panel constituted of Smt. Rajeswari Prakash, Dr. Manimohan Roy ,Er. Manoj Kumar, Dr.Shardul Vikram Lal, Dr. Pooja Kapoor and Shri Rameshwar. Interactive session of expert and farmers was held during the session. A total of 197 farmers and farmwomen were benefitted from the programme. Earlier, Shri D. Basantia welcomed the gathering and Shri B.L Meena proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, N & M Andaman and Dr. A. Kundu, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
