Port Blair, Aug 17: The World Honey Bee Day will be celebrated by NABARD, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Office, Port Blair on 19th August 2017 with a view to creating awareness about bee-keeping & uses of its products including honey among farmers and general public.
Main theme of the celebration will be – “Save Honey Bees”.On the occasion NABARD is organising a Seminar on “Apiculture and uses of Honey” in the conference room of NABARD. Participants include members of Farmers Producers Organisation (FPOs) and SHGs who are engaged in honey production and marketing.
Shri R Y Singh, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture, Shri M A Salaam, retired Director Agriculture and President of Hortisan, Shri Joseph, Chairman “Apiary FPO” – a fledgling honey producing Farmers Producers Organisation (FPOs) and Shri Santi Gain a progressive honey farmer from Little Andaman, Hut Bay will be key speakers on this occasion. A photo exhibition on Honey Bee keeping and also sale of pure organic honey produced by the above mentioned farmers and FPOs will be organised in NABARD’s office on VIP Road. The Chief Guest for the function would be Dr. G S Pandey, Deputy Director, Agriculture, A& N Islands. Shri BVS Prasad, General Manager NABARD will be moderating the deliberations on the day.
