Port Blair, Aug 16: The 71st Independence Day was celebrated in a glorious manner at Wimberlygunj. The main function was held at Wimberlygunj mini stadium where Chief Guest Shri. Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad, South Andaman hoisted the National flag at 9:00 am.
Earlier SHO Bambooflat escorted the Chief Guest from Bambooflat to the main venue.
In his address Shri. Jaydeep briefed the achievements of various departments from the zone. March Past and Colourful cultural programme by the school children were the attraction for the general public. Later the winners were rewarded.
