MP Demands cancellation of Yacht Marina

Port Blair, June 22: The Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today demanded cancellation of the 50 berth Yacht Marina project, which is proposed to be built at Viper Island.
Addressing a press conference at the MP office this afternoon, the MP said the project was started in the year 2009. But the administration did not inform media or any political party about the project despite of the fact that the project will cost nearly Rs. 52 crores to tax payers.
Targeting the administration the MP said that the administration is misguiding the general public. He demanded immediate withdraw of this project considering Viper as pilgrimage of freedom struggle, Balidan Bhoomi and Tapasya Bhoom.
Further MP also raised the issue of Diglipur powerhouse and said the condition of the power house building is horrible.
“The building will collapse anytime. The transformer is in water, to repair a transformer they will have to bring it in Port Blair. 160 posts of Mazdoors are sanctioned in the Diglipur Island, but only 90 Mazdoors are there,” the MP said.
He said that BSNL network is giving nightmare to the public of Diglipur Island.
Talking about the Shivpur, Kalipur airport, the MP demanded the administration to take the forest land on the other side of airport, and not to for around 90 families to vacate their land.
