Port Blair, July 23: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach cleanup drive at Munda Pahar Beach in Chidiya Tapu in continuation of its efforts towards “Swachh Sagar Abhiyaan” in Andaman and Nicobar Isles wherein 800 mtrs of beach was cleaned and about 250 Kgs of garbage was collected and disposed off. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals. During the cleanup drive locals and tourists were sensitised by the Coast Guard towards keeping beaches and environment clean for future generation.
Also, the Indian Coast Guard station Mayabunder as part of Swachh Sagar Abhiyaan organised beach cleaning event on 22 Jul 17 at Karmatang beach with an aim to spread the awareness among locals towards protecting the pristine beach of Isles.
These active steps taken by Indian Coast Guard towards the “Swachh Sagar Abhiyaan” will contribute incalculably to spread awareness among the Isles populace and tourists towards preservation of our marine environment.
