
Port Blair, July 16: Indian Coast Guard rescued six fishermen from fishing boat Betal-2 in distress off Kalipur beach in Northern group of Islands on 14 Jul 17. In the morning, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Port Blair received a request from the owner of fishing boat Betal- 2 for rescue. On receipt of information, Coast Guard promptly launched Coast Guard ship C-147 from Mayabunder.
Fishing boat Betal-2 with six fishermen onboard sailed from Juglighat on 12 Jul 17 towards Mayabunder and her engine failed view breakage of Lub oil off Kalipur beach. Crew could not rectify the defect and subsequently FB owner Mr. P Chiranjeevlu requested Coast Guard for rescue and tow. Coast Guard ship C-147 successfully towed the boat braving rough seas and strong winds and handed over the boat off mayabundar to fellow fisherman.
