The meeting expressed serious concern over the stoppage of sugar to the public through Fair Price Shops and demanded its restoration in order to ensure availability of sugar to the islanders and to avoid its shortage. The meeting noted that the A & N Administration has not taken the issue of implementation of Goods & Service Tax in these islands seriously because of which businessmen and general public are put to hardship. The meeting also expressed serious concern over the failure of the Shipping sector in the islands. Most of the mainland-island and inter-island vesssels are not put to service due to failure of timely APS and other repair works. The meeting noted that passengers of southern group of islands including Little Andaman are facing hardship due to non-availability of ships. The others issues to be highlighted during the campaign and Mass Dharna are (1) Price rise (2) to take effective measures for job creation for local youths, (3) filling up of vacant posts in various departments under the A & N Administration, etc. K.G.
