I am happy to learn that the World Population Day-2017 is being celebrated on 11th July, 2017 by the Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration with the Slogan “Nayi Lehar, Naya Viswas, Sampoorn Zimmedari se Parivar Vikas” in A&N Islands alongwith rest of the country to increase the awareness of the people towards the population issues and to focus on the need to stabilize the population growth in the country.I am happy to learn that the World Population Day-2017 is being celebrated on 11th July, 2017 by the Directorate of Health Services, A&N Administration with the Slogan “Nayi Lehar, Naya Viswas, Sampoorn Zimmedari se Parivar Vikas” in A&N Islands alongwith rest of the country to increase the awareness of the people towards the population issues and to focus on the need to stabilize the population growth in the country. It is a huge challenge for a Government to stabilize the population growth of the country and to pay great attention towards the reproductive health problems of the people as it is the leading cause of the ill health as well as the death of the pregnant women worldwide. The campaign of the world population day every year increases the knowledge and skills of the people worldwide towards their reproductive health and family planning. Around 1.8 million are entering to their reproductive years and it is very necessary to call their attention towards the primary part of the reproductive health.
Through this great awareness programme people are encourage to take part in the event to know about population issues like importance of Family Planning towards the increasing population, gender equality, Maternal and Child health, poverty, human rights, right of health, sexuality education, use of contraceptives and sterilization methods, reproductive health, adolescent pregnancy, early marriage, importance of girl child education and sexually transmitted infection.
I appeal to all the Islanders including PRI Members, NGO’s, Civic Societies and the Media persons to draw attention of people to work together on the issue of growing population to create awareness among the general public regarding stabilize population growth of our country.
