Port Blair, July 10: Call it a major achievement of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association or a historic decision of All India Chess Federation, the AICF has allocated the conduct of National Under 25 Championship to Andaman & Nicobar Chess Association.
Addressing a press conference on 10 July at TSG Emerald View Mr. G Bhasker said that the Under-25 National Chess Championship will be held from 13 July to 19 July at JNRM College, Port Blair. The tournament is being organized for the first time in these Islands with a motto to develop, chess enthusiasts in these islands.
Recently a U-25 Chess tournament was organized at JNRM college in which 57 participants took part enthusiastically.
Further informing he said that a total of 75 entries have been recorded from many states for the National Chess Tournament. The tournament will be inaugurated on 13 July at 3:00 pm in which the Chief Secretary, A&N administration will be the chief guest.
The Tournament will end on 19 July at 05:00 pm in which Lt. Governor is consented to be the guest of honour. The technical head R. R. Vasudevan, Chief Arbiter, from Tamil Nadu other than this 03 more arbiters will accompany them from mainland India, Mr. H.Dinesh will be Deputy Chief Arbiter for the tournament.
To encourage the chess players, from among the India the All India Chess Federation is sponsoring to & fro flight tickets for 01 player from each state. All together 17 people from All India Chess Federation core committee will be on a visit for the tournament. The tournament will be played with the help of pairing software.
