Port Blair, Jul 06: On 04/07/17 on a tip off about smuggling of Sea Turtle (an endangered Wild Life species) was received at PS Pahargaon. A team of Police personnel led by SI Jeevan immediately swung into action and mounted surveillance of suspected place. Soon two suspects were noticed carrying a heavy carry bag. The suspects were detained and the carry bag was searched in which a freshly killed Sea Turtle was found. The smugglers were identified as Narayan Roy @ Sujoy, resident of Garacharma and Surojit Das, resident of Guptapara. Sujoy Roy was earlier also found to be involved in many criminal cases of PS Ograbraj and he was also booked under preventive action thrice for his suspected involvement in criminal activities. The 2.15 Kgs sea turtle was seized on the spot and the accused were detained. The detained accused and seized property were later handed over to Range Officer (Wild Life) for further action against the accused persons.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Insp. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Pahargaon and DySP(South Andaman).
South Andaman Police has worked tirelessly in cracking these cases and put tremendous & skilled efforts in their assigned duties.
