Port Blair, July 03: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament has submitted various demands vide his letter dated 22.03.2017 before the Home Minister of India on 22.03.2017 which was reviewed under the chairmanship of Home Minister at Raj Niwas, Port Blair on 06.03.2017 during his visit to Port Blair. Port Blair, July 03: Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament has submitted various demands vide his letter dated 22.03.2017 before the Home Minister of India on 22.03.2017 which was reviewed under the chairmanship of Home Minister at Raj Niwas, Port Blair on 06.03.2017 during his visit to Port Blair. In the review meeting, it was decided that a committee be set up to examine the issues raised by Member of Parliament and make appropriate recommendation for consideration of the government of India. The demands are issue relating to providing/compensation to the Tsunami affected farmers/persons whose land were submerged during 2004 after Tsunami, Left out regularization of Pre-61 excess area in Port Blair declared by Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee in Xth IDA meeting, Formation of definite package for shifting/relocation of Katchal Tamil settlers and rehabilitation of other workers of Katchal rubber board plantation, Restoration of compensatory allowance (13 months) pay in addition to the normal pay and salary to the Fire service personnel which was stopped in the year 2013, Grant of Ration Money to the Regular Home Guards at par with ration money being paid to the police personnel, Grant of additional fund to for construction of shore embankment for protection of agriculture land from Bank erosion in various places, Review of Shekar Singh commission report, Enhancement of power of Administrator for diversion of forest land upto a maximum limit of 5 hectares in place of 1 hect., Implementation of 4th UT Finance Commission recommendation for grant of fund to PRIs and PBMC, Regularisation of revenue encroachments land prior to 2007 – Projected in election manifesto, 10% reservation in govt. jobs and colleges admission to Economically weaker section in A&N Islands, Re-settlement of Post 1978 Forest encroachers (about 4000) on the revenue land adjacent to ATR at various locations and Grant of reservation of to the migrated SC/STs to this islands according to their categories of classes in their respective places at mainland. In pursuance to the said decision arrived on 06.03.2017, a committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Vivek Ray, Ex-Chief Secretary of A&N Administration, Principal Secretary (Revenue) as Convener, Principal Secretary (Fin), PCCF, A&N Islands, DCs of respective district and representatives of MHA not below the rank of Jt. Secretary as Members has been constituted to examine and to make recommendations for onward submission to the Ministry of Home Affairs within six months for further consideration.
